Don’t let the weather put you off

Talking about the weather has often been a popular topic of conversation.  More than that, given how much we talk about it, complain to our friends and colleagues, and collectively hope for ‘a better year’ the stormier skies at least keep out conversation going!

There is definitely an argument to support the suggestion that a lack of hot weather actually makes the nation as a whole much more responsive to the positive effects of sunshine. Residents of constantly-hot countries, from Madagascar to Morocco, must be so accustomed to the heat that they spend entire days indoors, avoiding the midday sun especially.

Granted, the attitude of most Britons in the face of a scorching day heat would be to slap on the sunscreen, get a hat and get out there. Not to waste a minute. We receive clement weather with great affection, embracing the sunshine in Hollywood style.
For a nation that spends so much time in the cold, an overall keenness for swimming pools, hot tubs, conservatories and skylights. Whatever heat and light we receive, we seem quite understandably, to lap it all up. Because when we do get sun, an English garden is a beautiful place to be, and notably, around homes of Great Britain, many are erecting hot tubs and pools, turning gardens into a Mediterranean delight in the afternoon and evening. When summer does fall, hopefully with sizzling heat, a pool is the perfect remedy, and a hot tub against a warm sunset-evening is a treat for anybody.

If you’re spending big money on a hot tub, or pool, then don’t think small when it comes to researching appropriate insurance cover.  If you’re keen to protect your investment, be advised that any items you have in the garden sometimes included in standard home insurance policies, but do check your terms, they might not be and cover is often relatively limited. As a guide, Kwik Fit Insurance offer up to £500 of garden contents cover as standard; you may find it difficult to find a better deal without paying a weighty extra. Have a look at their website for full home insurance details.
